About the Role

The Research Assistant supports the organization’s research activities by assisting in data collection, analysis, and documentation. This role involves working closely with researchers and program staff to ensure the smooth execution of research projects. The Research Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and contributing to the overall success of research initiatives.

Job Duties:
• Assist in the design and implementation of research studies, including the development of research instruments and protocols.
• Collect data through surveys, interviews, observations, and other research methods as directed by senior researchers.
• Organize and maintain research databases, ensuring that all data is accurately entered and securely stored.
• Conduct literature reviews and gather relevant information to support research projects.
• Assist in the analysis of data using statistical software and other tools, preparing preliminary reports and summaries of findings.
• Prepare graphs, tables, and other visual aids to help present research data clearly and effectively.
• Assist in the preparation of research reports, papers, and presentations for internal and external dissemination.
• Maintain clear and detailed documentation of research procedures, data collection methods, and findings.
• Coordinate with program staff and other stakeholders to ensure that research activities align with the organization’s goals.
• Stay updated on relevant research trends and methodologies to contribute to the continuous improvement of research practices within the organization.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology, research methods, or a related field is required; a master’s degree or coursework in research methodology is preferred.

  • Additional coursework or certifications related to data analysis, statistics, or research ethics is advantageous.


Previous Job Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a research or academic support role, preferably in a social services, nonprofit, or academic setting.

  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Excel).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage research tasks effectively, including organizing and maintaining research databases and documentation.

  • Experience with literature reviews, preparing research reports, and presenting findings is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and apply research methodologies to various projects.

  • Familiarity with ethical standards and regulations related to research, including obtaining necessary approvals and consents.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Prior experience supporting research projects or contributing to academic publications is a plus.
