About the Role

The Financial Auditor ensures the accuracy and integrity of the agency's financial operations. The auditor conducts internal audits, reviews financial statements, and ensures compliance with financial regulations and standards.

Job Duties:
• Conduct internal audits of financial processes and controls.
• Review financial statements and records for accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
• Identify and report discrepancies, risks, and areas for improvement.
• Recommend corrective actions and improvements to financial processes.
• Prepare audit reports for the CFO and Board of Directors.
• Stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is a plus.

  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is preferred.


Previous Job Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial auditing or accounting, preferably within a nonprofit organization or social services sector.

  • Proven experience in conducting financial audits, analyzing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, a critical thinker, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Experience with startup organizations or newer establishments is a plus, particularly in developing and implementing audit processes and systems.

  • Familiarity with accounting software and financial management systems is essential (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, or similar tools).

  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in auditing and accounting.

  • Experience in preparing audit reports and presenting findings to senior management and stakeholders.
