About the Role

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the financial health of the agency, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The CFO ensures compliance with financial regulations and works to secure funding.

Job Duties:
• Develop and oversee financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
• Manage accounting, finance, and grant administration functions.
• Ensure financial compliance and audit readiness.
• Provide financial reports and analysis to the CEO.
• Oversee investment activities and manage financial risks.
• Collaborate with program directors on budget management.
• Secure funding through grants, partnerships, and other financial sources.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree or MBA with a focus on finance or accounting is preferred.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) are highly desirable.


Previous Job Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management or accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior financial leadership role, such as a CFO, Finance Director, or Controller.

  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Proven track record in managing and overseeing complex financial operations, including financial analysis, cash flow management, and risk assessment.

  • Experience in nonprofit or social services organizations is preferred, with a strong understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, think critically, and manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience with startup organizations or newer establishments is a plus, including implementing innovative financial systems and processes.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing finance teams.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and the Board of Directors.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with senior management and contribute to strategic decision-making.
