About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the financial health of the agency, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The CFO ensures compliance with financial regulations and works to secure funding.
Job Duties:
• Develop and oversee financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
• Manage accounting, finance, and grant administration functions.
• Ensure financial compliance and audit readiness.
• Provide financial reports and analysis to the CEO.
• Oversee investment activities and manage financial risks.
• Collaborate with program directors on budget management.
• Secure funding through grants, partnerships, and other financial sources.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree or MBA with a focus on finance or accounting is preferred.
Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) are highly desirable.
Previous Job Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management or accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior financial leadership role, such as a CFO, Finance Director, or Controller.
Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Proven track record in managing and overseeing complex financial operations, including financial analysis, cash flow management, and risk assessment.
Experience in nonprofit or social services organizations is preferred, with a strong understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to be proactive, think critically, and manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
Experience with startup organizations or newer establishments is a plus, including implementing innovative financial systems and processes.
Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing finance teams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
Proven ability to collaborate with senior management and contribute to strategic decision-making.
